報告摘要:Sustainable shipping is a top priority for the maritime industry. The IMO has set ambitious emission targets for 2030 and 2050. Meeting these targets requires vessel performance to be optimised from design to operation. The UK is also working closely with industry and other stakeholders to explore opportunities for green shipping corridors – a specific route between two or more ports on which zero-emission shipping solutions are demonstrated and supported – to deliver on its commitments under the COP 26 initiative and the Clydebank Declaration. The importance of research focusing on reducing the emissions from maritime transport is undeniable, especially around coasts, ports and urban areas. The presenter has been working with the underlying theories and methods required to investigate the performance of ships and the effectiveness of any energy saving device since 2012. Building on his track record, this presentation will showcase his research work around a safer and decarbonised future for maritime transport, utilising the efficient use of combined CFD and EFD techniques.

Professor Tahsin Tezdogan is the co-Editor-in-Chief of Ocean Engineering. He works in Maritime Engineering in the Department of Civil, Maritime, and Environmental Engineering at the University of Southampton. He received his PhD degree in 2015 from the University of Strathclyde from the Department Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering, with his PhD thesis entitled, 'Potential Flow and CFD-Based Hydrodynamic Analyses of Mono- and Multi-Hull Vessels’. Tezdogan has a broad range of research interests, including CFD simulations of ship motions and resistance, the added resistance of ships due to waves, and the investigation of ship behaviour and performance in channels/canals. He worked on a number of internationally collaborated EU, Newton Fund and Global Challenges projects. To date, Tezdogan has published more than 60 papers in highly ranked journals and has presented his research at several international conferences and workshops. In addition to this, Tezdogan has acted as guest editors for several journals. He is also the co-Editor-in-Chief of Ocean Engineering journal. Professor Tezdogan has also been selected as one of the 20 members of the UK Shipbuilding Skills Taskforce. UK Shipbuilding Skills Taskforce (UKSST) forms a partnership between government, industry, training providers and trade representative bodies. The Taskforce supports the?development and implementation of?a?future-focused skills strategy for shipbuilding.
